Cornelius Cross Junior was born on 4 June 1792 according to his life assurance policy. Likely Bristolian son of Cornelius Cross and Mary Blackwell who married at St. Augustine's, Bristol on 30 March 1788.

Holden's Triennial Directory for Bristol for the years 1805-1807 lists Cornelius Cross as the Exchange Coffee House keeper, in Corn Street.

From the Bristol Mirror - Saturday 13 February 1813 page 3:

 NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership between us, the undersigned, CORNELIUS CROSS and JOHN BOND, in the trade or business of Dealers in Wine and Spirituous Liquors, carried on in Castle-Green, in the city of Bristol, under the Firm "Cornelius Cross & Co." expired by effluxion of time on the First day of February instant. All Persons indebted to the Concern, are requested to pay their Debts to Cornelius Cross, who is authorised to receive the same, and to adjust and discharge all debts owing by the said late Copartnership. Witness the hands of the Parties, the 9th day of Febrnary, I813.

CROSS begs leave to return his sincere thanks to his Friends and the Public, for the favours conferred on him during his connexion with Mr. Bond, and respectfully informs them he continues to carry at the Wine and Spirit Business upon his own account, at No. 7. CASTLE-GREEN, where he hopes to receive a continuance of their favours.
Bristol, Feb. 10th, 1813.

In March 1817 the company was trading as C. Cross & Son. That March they took a delivery of 5 Pipes of Wine from Oporto in the ship The Dart. But not long after a deed of assignment was issued on 23 Sept. 1817:

ESTATE OF CORNELIUS CROSS & SON
THE Creditors of CORNELIUS CROSS and SON. late of Bristol, Liquor Merchants. are informed, that a Dividend is now payable at the Compting House of Mr. PHELPS, Queen-Square, one of the Trustees. And all Persons who are still indebted to the above Estate, are informed, that unless immediate payment their respective accounts be made to the Trustees, they will proceeded against without further notice, Bristol, June 24, 1818.

Cornelius married Sarah Ford of Keynsham, by license at the church of that parish, on 13 July 1820.

ESTATE OF CORNELIUS CROSS AND SON. (Bristol Mercury - Monday 14 October 1822 page 2).
"THE Creditors who have executed the Deed of Assignment of 23d September, 1817, may receive the Second Dividend, viz. ONE SHILLING in the Pound upon their respective a Debts, on application at the Counting-House of JOSEPH RUSSEILL, St. .James's Barton, Trustee to the above Estate. Bristol, 7th October, 1822."

By 1830 Cornelius Jnr. was a tea dealer on Easton Road, Bristol. By 1839 he had moved to 25 Old Market Street.

Sarah Cross died in Old Market Street on 7 March 1838.

Cornelius Cross Senior died 2 July 1840 at his home in Upper Cheltenham Place, Montpelier, aged 81.

Cornelius Cross Junior was bankrupt by August 1841 having also just lost his wife and his father. His own death was registered in the summer of 1856.

In July 1866, Sarah Emily Cross, only surviving daughter of Cornelius, married J. W. Broad at St. Michael All Angels, Bishopston.
